Facial Aesthetics

Facial aesthetics for a more youthful look!

When patients think of Botox, they often associate it with facial aesthetic treatments. Not only is this cosmetic injectable an excellent way to smooth away dynamic wrinkles and folds, but it can also be used by a dental provider to help with conditions such as bruxism or TMJ/TMD. Dr. Yasi Sabour and her team at The Dental Studio in Flower Mound, Texas, are pleased to offer Botox and Xeomin as injectables for medical and aesthetic purposes.

Understanding how Botox and Xeomin work

Many patients are unsure exactly how these products work in turning back the hands of time or alleviating pain and discomfort from TMJ/TMD. Both Botox and Xeomin are neuromodulators. They are designed to be injected into the muscles of the face to reduce muscle contraction. In doing so, it smooths the skin above and provides pain relief from TMJ/TMD or bruxism (clenching and grinding of the teeth). Our team is excited to use these neuromodulators for multiple purposes. When administered by a trained and skilled professional such as Dr. Sabour, you can rest easy that the treatment is both safe and effective.

How often do I need injections?

The primary ingredient in Botox and Xeomin is botulinum toxin. When botulinum toxins are injected into muscles, it reduces contraction and allows for the relaxation of the affected facial muscles. This reduces the depth and overall appearance of wrinkles and folds on the face while reducing tension and discomfort caused by dental problems like bruxism and temporomandibular joint disorder. The regularity of injections depends on the amount used to achieve results and the primary purpose of the injections. Most patients can enjoy the results from their neuromodulator injections for several months before needing reinjection to achieve the desired changes.
